Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs that are AACSB accredited. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International. In addition, less than 5% of business schools worldwide are AACSB accredited, meaning that our chapter at Texas Wesleyan University is a group of prestigious and unique business students.
TWU was only recently accredited; therefore, our chapter is still very young. In order to start making a difference in our community, giving businesses a chance for local involvement, and providing opportunities for our members to exercise their talents in business fields, the chapter decided to host a large event that supports the pets in the community. Responsible Dog Ownership Days
The American Kennel Club – the nation’s largest registry and leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of purebred dogs – recognizes that canine companionship is not only a right but also a privilege that must be respected and nurtured. In return for this privilege, dog owners need to respect reasonable, enforceable, non-discriminatory legislation governing the ownership of dogs, such as local leash laws, curbing policies and licensing regulations.
Each year, the American Kennel Club® calls on its more than 5,000 affiliated dog clubs and all other pet-related organizations from around the country to participate in AKC RDO Days by hosting a community event that includes activities like dog sporting demos, breed parades, safety around dog presentations for kids, microchipping clinics and more. The nationwide initiative educates the public about the importance of being a responsible dog owner and celebrates the deep bond between humans and their canine companions. Founded in 1905, the Humane Society of North Texas is the largest and longest standing non-profit animal rescue and adoption organization in North Texas. HSNT serves over 25,000 animals annually through its crucial programs including emergency animal rescue, humane investigations, low-cost spay and neuter services, a feral cat TNR program, owner surrenders, lost and found services and the adoptions of dogs, cats, horses, livestock, small mammals, reptiles and more.
HSNT’s mission is to act as an advocate on behalf of all animals and to ensure their legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection; to provide for the well-being of animals who are abandoned, injured, neglected, mistreated or otherwise in need; to promote an appreciation of animals; and to instill respect for all living things.
